Lamp sources

We supply several different lamp sources to be used with our spectrometer systems. They vary from nanosecond pulsed lamps for the study of fluorescence decay, through microsecond pulsed lamps for phosphorescence decay studies to steady state lamps for the measurement of emission and excitation spectra.

Lamps for the study of fluorescence and phosphorescence

Ultrafast Nanosecond Flashlamp (nF920)

The nF920 is an ultrafast nanosecond flashlamp is included with all standard FLS920-t spectrometers for time resolved fluorescence studies with decays of 100 ps – 50ms.

  • optical pulse width: down to 0.8 ns (hydrogen filler gas, ~1.1ns Nitrogen gas)
  • spectral range: 185-850 nm (hydrogen filler gas), VUV option available
Microsecond Flashlamp (µF920H)

µF920 Pulsed xenon flashlamp under computer control to measure phosphorescence decays from 1ms to 10s. The lamp is included with all standard FLS920-m spectrometers.

  • optical pulse width: 1.5 to 2.5 µs
  • average power: 60 W

This lamp is also available with a lower output power, 5W. (µF920)

450W Xenon Lamp (Xe900)

450 Watt xenon lamp complete with power supply.

The power supply can deliver up to 500 Watts and has a LCD display for lamp voltage and lamp current and an hour meter for monitoring the lamp operation time.

This lamp is supplied as standard with all FLS920-s spectrometers.

Calibrated lamps are also available.

Lamps for the study of transient absorption/laser flash photolysis

Xe900 Xenon Arc Lamp with xP920 Xenon Lamp Pulser

450 Watt CW Xenon lamp with power supply. The lamp head includes:

  • built in ignite
  • ozone free bulb in a holder with adjustable screws for optical alignment

The power supply can deliver up to 500 Watts and has a LCD display for lamp voltage and lamp current and an hour meter for monitoring the lamp operation time.
The Xenon Lamp Pulser is designed to operate with the Xe900 lamp, such that the lamp stores energy that gets released in short periods of 10ms (or less) to enhance the optical output. The xP920 can output up to 200A pulses with 0.2ms to 10ms duration for repetition rates of up to 10Hz. The xP920 is controlled by the LP920 controller (pulse repetition, pulse height, pulse duration).
50W Halogen Lamp

50W Halogen lamp permanently mounted to the side of the LP920 spectrometer, as a probe source for transient absorption measurements in the millisecond and second time range. The lamp is suitable for the spectral range above 350nm.
