Spectrometers

Edinburgh Photonics is the name you turn to when you want to unlock the secrets of the most demanding applications in optical spectroscopy.

Our experience and expertise in instrumentation for fluorescence spectroscopy and laser flash photolysis spectroscopy is second to none, spanning decades with almost 1000 systems installed in universities and leading research laboratories worldwide.

We design and manufacture steady state fluorescence spectrometers, dedicated fluorescence lifetime spectrometers, combined steady state and lifetime spectrometers and laser flash photolysis spectrometers. We are leading in sensitivity specifications by detecting at the photon level, we have pioneered the technique of Time Correlated Single Photon Counting (TCSPC) in time resolved fluorescence spectroscopy and use multi-channel scaling (MCS) techniques to measure phosphorescence lifetimes at the quantum level. With a variety of detector and light source options we cover wavelengths from the VUV to the NIR.

Fluorescence Spectrometer

NEW FLS98O Series

The modularity of our FLS980 gives users the flexibility to customize the instrumentation for their special experimental needs and the upgradability to stay on top of developing and changing research topics. Our systems are supplied with fully integrated hardware and software built into a single system. Our system operating software is user friendly, and at the same time handles all complex requirements of modularity and upgradability. The software also controls a large variety  of sample holder and temperature control options, like plate readers, integrating spheres, cryostats, titrators, etc.

Lifetime measurements

LifeSpec Series

The LifeSpec series provides ultimate temporal resolution in time resolved fluorescence spectroscopy. This series is designed to accept most modern picosecond and femtosecond lasers and the fastest detectors on the market.

Measurements of fluorescence lifetime, which historically took many minutes or even hours to perform, can quite literally be done in the blink of an eye and fitted with up to 4 lifetimes. Our advanced software has a sophisticated library that enables analysis of complex decays to various models including global analysis, distribution analysis stretched exponential component analysis, FÅ‘rster kinetics, Micellar quenching kinetics and various anisotropy models. As with the FLS980, a large variety of sample holders and temperature control options are available.

Flash Photolysis

LP920 series

The LP920 series is a modular laser flash photolysis system that enables users to reliably and accurately measure transient absorption either in spectral and/or kinetic mode. In kinetic mode a single detector is used and the transient kinetics can be resolved with highest accuracy. In spectral mode and image intensified CCD is used and the whole transient absorption spectrum can be acquired with a minimum of laser shots. The LP920 software handles all aspects of instrument control, including a large variety of pump lasers and OPOs. The software also enables data fitting, optionally with second order kinetics and global analysis.
